Fun day shooting Michele’s Organics new products for her website.  Great products for him/her, babies and even dogs.  At one point Michele thought it would be a good idea to put her dog Roxy as part of the set for her dog products and it worked great!  Roxy was a trooper behaving and holding her poses like a true model.  This shot was my favourite from the day.  Clean and simple with an effective set design by Michele.

Check out Michele’s website to learn more about her wonderful products (Colette’s already hooked and I’ve got to admit I love the scent of that Jasmine perfume).

Soundtrack for the afternoon included Morcheeba’s new album Blood Like Lemonade and Thievery Corporations’ album Versions.

Happy Birthday Simone!

Comments Off on Happy Birthday Simone!

Simone turned one today and after munching on a few gourmet treats from Helmutts Pets Supplies she cozied up with her new toy, a green mouse with a bell on it’s tail (let’s see how long she takes to lose this one in the loft).

Both Simone and I were chillaxin’ to Angus and Julia Stone’s album Down The Way.  Love this album!!

Mud Mask Creative

Comments Off on Mud Mask Creative

It’s been weeks since I was free of any post and retouch work and I think I’ve gotten so use to doing some editing that even on a Saturday night all I could think about was shooting and creating some art in the digital darkroom.  Lucky me that I have a gorgeous girlfriend who is always up for something creative even if with the last two shoots I have tried my best to make her look anything but glamorous.  We had this idea over 6 months ago to do some shots with a mud mask and two packages were gathering dust under our bathroom sink so we thought now might be a good time to use them up.  This shot was my favourite and I tried many different crops of this image in post but came back to the original.  I also added some obvious contrast to darken the shadows and highlight the cracks.

Tunes in the background while shooting was Mark Lanegan’s album I’ll Take Care of You.  Great album!!

Thanks to designer Joy Couture for organizing a promotional bikini shoot and previewing a couple of her swimwear designs for the upcoming Fashion Beauty Show Pageant in December.  I was lucky enough to shoot six of the contestants on this day.  Thanks to all of the models (Jenna Fawcett, Samantha Barber – blog picture, Courtney St Jules, Connie CC, Maggie Qin, and Samantha LC) and good luck at the show.

Fashion with Izabella Drogosiewicz

Comments Off on Fashion with Izabella Drogosiewicz

Great time shooting the beautiful Izabella, a model from Nova Scotia who has just moved to Toronto.  It was an edgy high fashion type shoot with the second half concentrating on some images for my latest book on alternative fashion.  Rina styled the shoot big time with some awesome outfits and her talent in hair and make up.  As usual here are my favourite five.

Thanks to Colette for her assistance in putting up the 9 foot seamless without any injury.

Music for the shoot started with Massive Attack’s Mezzanine and ended up with Rage Against The Machine’s self titled album.  In between was a mix from Rina’s iPod.  Hey Rina, where was the Public Enemy!?

What the Hoof?

Comments Off on What the Hoof?

Canada Day holiday and I spent it shooting of course.  7 hours of walking and lugging around some equipment and this is the shot I decide to put in my blog (yes I did get some obligatory cute animal shots).  Three guesses as to what animal this hoof belongs to.  Nope, your wrong.  It’s a rhinoceros.  I had my 70-200 2.8 on my camera at the time and the rhino decided to walk right up to the fence.  I couldn’t focus on it’s eye since it was too close so I made an interesting shot where I could focus. Amazing animals those rhinoceroses.

On a side note, this image reminds of an album cover for some reason.
