World MasterCard Fashion Week October 22-26 2012 at David Pecaut Square
Another long week covering World MasterCard Fashion Week. Although the schedule was slightly lighter than usual (26 shows total) the days and nights definitely blurred together as WMCFW seriously takes over your life for the week. My spot for the main runway show was top row and right of centre (facing runway). Not too bad but a little high for my liking. As usual you take what you can get as media was not allowed in until one hour before the first show which made for a mad dash of about 60 photographers. However my spot in the studio runway was good as I was at the height I wanted and just slightly left of centre. Anyway, once settled it was all good. The media sponsor, Target, kept us photographers from going hungry with supplying sandwiches and an open bar all week. Yup, an open bar. Could have been dangerous but most kept themselves in check except of the last day, myself included. In fact, it being the first WMCFW under IMG, it definitely seemed like the production of the whole event was up a couple of notches from previous seasons. The shows were almost always on time and ran very smoothly. Nice and thank you for a great job to IMG, their sponsors and support staff.
Regarding the runway shows, once again I was wowed by Pavoni’s show. Other favourites from the week included Arthur Mendonca, Lucian Matis, Triarchy and Korhani.
As usual it was great to see the regular photographers and to meet new ones. Some really great people out there willing to share their experience and knowledge.
Anyway, got the shots needed and until next season, enjoy the images!!
the shOws S/S 2013 Collections
This season’s the shOws S/S 2013 Collection was held at the beautiful Andrew Richard Designs building in downtown Toronto. Showcasing fantastic designs from four Canadian designers, this two day event was your typical top notch production from Paolo Fullerton and her team. It was also great to see the usual runway fashion photographers as we chatted everything gear, fashion, models, designers and the upcoming World MasterCard Fashion Week.
Special thanks to Brill Communications.

Headshot of Leo
Fun shoot today capturing images of Leo at the home studio. Leo needed some headshots for his agent and he was “on” as usual. I’ve mentioned Leo in previous blog posts and you really can’t miss a shot with him. A natural who is super comfortable in front of the camera and super funny too. He had me laughing with some outrageous faces but of course we got some great headshots as well. This was one of the favourites from the day.
Great job Leo and hope to see you on t.v. soon!!
Thanks to Craig and Colette for holding up the background paper as I left my stands at the studio.
Soundtrack for the shoot was the awesome Red Hot + Rio 2 album, Nova Tropicalia.
Elevator Man
Here is one of my favourite shots from my last visit to New York. Colette and I usually do one touristy thing every time we go to New York. Well this time it was the Empire State Building. Oddly, neither of us had ever been in it and it was the perfect night to view the great city from the top of this landmark (we got some great shots of the city scene). On our way down I had a quick chat with the elevator man about the antiquity of the elevator controls/buttons and in a typical NY way he talked about them with great enthusiasm and fascination. His own antiquity made me laugh a little as he spoke and I knew I had to get a photograph of this character and I didn’t have much time to accomplish this. I interrupted his storytelling with “You know who you look like? Elvis Costello”. He stopped mid sentence and looked away flattered…I think, and then smiled proudly with a bit of attitude and said,
“Yeah I get that but you know who I really look like? Robert DeNiro”.
I already had my camera up ready to shoot as I asked if I could photograph him not waiting for his response.
