Peggy’s Cove

Comments Off on Peggy’s Cove

I had some business (not photography related) in the Maritimes and of course I had to take my camera. I needed to travel light so it was my D700 with my 35m F2. I was kept fairly busy but I did have time one very early morning (7am) to make a trip to Peggy’s Cove. It was a very foggy morning and I didn’t have a tripod but I got some great shots regardless. There was nobody else around this early and the beautiful, serene landscape was absolutely stunning. I spent a couple of hours just looking, thinking about life and then as visitors started arriving, it was time to go. I’ll be back for sure and next time I’ll have a bit more gear with me. Several more images can be viewed in my creative gallery here. Yes I do shoot more than just fashion and concerts.

Fun day shooting headshots for the team at Proactive Pelvic Health Centre. There was little room to work in their location but I had scouted it out an earlier date to figure out what I needed. One Elinchrom RX600 with the Elinchrom beauty dish set up with a storm grey background paper. Pictured here is Carolyn, a Practitioner of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Thanks to Ange.

Thanks to Colette for her assistance.

Uproar Festival @ Molson Amphitheatre

Comments Off on Uproar Festival @ Molson Amphitheatre

It was a couple of years ago that I covered Miss Uproar in Toronto and when I received an invitation to cover this event again I didn’t hesitate to accept. The opportunity to shoot Alice In Chains and Jane’s Addiction is an absolute no brainer. There were some amazing bands performing during the day but I was busy with my shooting obligations with Romantic Rock covering the shenanigans of the Miss Uproar contestants. Definitely some good fun and laughs while doing so. Once that was finished I was able to shoot Coheed And Cambria and Jane’s Addiction but not Alice In Chains. Yes I was pissed but only selected media were allowed to shoot them with a separate photo release that needed to be signed. Anyway, at least I was able to watch their show and they definitely rocked the house. Jane’s Addiction were absolutely awesome!!

Thanks to Emily from Romantic Rock.

African Fashion Week Toronto

I received an invite to cover African Fashion Week Toronto and this being the first ever in Toronto, I wasn’t sure what to expect. It was held at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre from August 15-18. The runway set up was in a theatre-like venue so the lighting was decent and adjusted for the better after the first set on Saturday. There was a four hour gap between runway shows which was a bit of a nuisance and also last minute changes in the designer line up that didn’t reflect what was posted on their website. Overall the shows were great and there were some fantastic designs. I look forward to next year’s show which I know will be even bigger and better.

Thanks to Erika and the team at African Fashion Week Toronto.

Edgefest at Downsview Park

Comments Off on Edgefest at Downsview Park

Awesome day covering Edgefest at Downsview Park for Quip Magazine. There was a total of 16 bands with two stages and the highlights for me was shooting Band of Horses and The Lumineers, even though I got absolutely drenched from the rain in the process. Except for Band of Horses (first two songs only) the usual first three songs, no flash, was in effect for media. All good except for the wankers who used their iPhones in the pit and the other wankers that think it’s cool to shoot blindly by raising their cameras above their heads to get a different perspective or to get closer to stage level without giving a damn about other photographers behind them. Yup…losers. Anyways, besides that little annoyance, it was a great festival and I got some great shots.

Thanks to Quip Magazine.
